    Dambala (winged Bean)

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sunethra says the Dambala vine began as seeds and should take about three months to harvest. 'It hardely needs any maintenance as these days it is raining,' she says. 'Just a little home manure soil, which are the leaves that fall on the ground and automatically turn into manure.'
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

Recently I took it into my head that I need to grow some Dambala vines, Dambala is known as the winged bean... My first idea was to see them grow along my wall and trail down with this lucious frilly green vegetables with their fan like appearance. Dambala as we call it in Sinhala is rich in protein... Sh! but I wanted to see the beauty of it in my garden, but it is also one vegetable that I like fried and made into a sambol, garnished with onions, garlic, chillie powder, curry leaves, salt, and maldive fish which we can consume with our daily diet of rice. This is a tropical plant and grows well in the hot tropics. This plant produces pea like beans.

I love Dambala, hahah Wonders will never cease.!!!
