The other night I went to visit a friend of mine who owns a antique store in Zamalek, Cairo, which is an island in the middle of the River Nile in Egypt. Its a very exclusive ritzy area of Cairo being that it caters mostly to the Embassies, foreigners, expats, international students from abroad and well to do Egytians that live in this very unique americanized island. They have all kinds of american restaurants such as McDonalds, Hardees, Pizza Hut and many more local egytian restaurants with local cuisine and flavor. As I walked across the street to visit my friend whom I have known for many years, I noticed that I was caughing more than usual and for a moment there, I knew that I did not have a cold but a congested bronchus and reminded myself that on the way home I should stop by a pharmacy and buy myself cough expectorant in order to alleviate the coughing and loosen the phlegm. So I walk acrossed the street up the stairs and entered the antique store and quickly noticed for the first time in many weeks that I did not see any customers wondering around the store shopping; so it was the precise moment to greet my friend with a friendly embrace and ask him if we could play a good game of chess like we have been doing for the past 40 years. He looked into my eyes and quickly took the challenge with excitement as we have played many years together; between us is very personal challenge to be victorious one more night in a game that sometimes could last a couple of hours since we do not use the clock and must stop at times to fancy shoppers who come inside the store. Other times we have antique peddlers that come into the store wanting to sell their antiques which to me is really interesting because everyday is something new to learn...Tonight a guy shows up with antique bronze monetary coins from the Roman Empire with the face of Alexander The Great dating to about 315 years before Jesus Christ. I ask permission to grab one and look at it through the magnifying glass and it was a very unique coin indeed; I said to myself that I am holding something that is actually older than the Son of God, the only other thing that I have seen that is older than the Son of God was a gigantic tree in California that it had a sign that said that the tree was in fact older than 2100 years old... So my friend made a deal with the seller and bought all the coins which he then proceeded to gift me one as a conversation gift to have back home; which I accepted it as I was leaving the next day... We resumed our game of chess and my friend noticed the frequency of my coughing which was very loud and reletntless and offered me a rather large spoon of cough supression and expectorant which he had in his store. He insisted that I go downstair to the pharmacy to buy a bottle of cough expectorant and told me that he had paid nearly 5 egytian pounds which equals less than 1 american dollar. I told him that on the way out I would stop and purchase a couple of bottles for my trip back home. We finished playing around 12:30am and by now the pharmacy was closed and it was impossible to purchase it at this time; so I told myself that I would buy them the next day at the airport in Cairo... It was nearly 5:30am when I arrived at the Cairo International Airport when I asked a worker inside if he knew if there was a pharmacy inside the airport and he responded that there was none; so I told myself that I would buy the medicine in London, Heathrow Airport since I had bought medicine there many times before... Upon arriving to Heathrow Airport and passing through the security in terminal 5-proceeded to find the pharmacy and there must have been like 5 different brand names over the counter and behind the counter another 5 more brands of cough expectorant... I grabbed the first one that I saw and walked to the counter and ask how much it cost and the attendant told me that it was 6 british pounds, equivalent to 9 dollars and change..Corporate law in action..Rip-Off!!
