    Let's Debate Student Loans

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MelissaF says when she hears people say that government should not help with student loans she laughs. 'If government shouldn't help with student loans and they shouldn't help with healthcare, then what is the point of government?' she asks. 'The government is supposed to be by the people for the people, and you need educated people or else we are just going to become minions for the government,' she says. MelissaF says she is glad President Obama is making student loans an issue. 'I think Obama empathizes for people with student loans because he had student loans too.' She says if Congress allows student loan rates to double by summer than the country will find itself in financial trouble. 'If they double rates more people are going to default on their loans and more people are going to give up,' she says.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

I'm graduating this May and with the student loan interest rate to double in July, I think this is a great topic to debate right here on CNN.

This is the next bubble to pop.

Romney says to join the military to get rid of your student debt. Gingrich called it a Ponzi scheme. Santorum wanted to get rid of student loans all together. Obama is the only one who seems to have any empathy to helping those who are saddle bagged with student debt.

Either you help those who are in debt with low interest rates and easy payment schedules or this country is going to get stuck when the bubble pops.

This is the way the system was set up and I am doing my best to work within that system. Keep it easy. Keep it light. Then maybe everything will be alright.
