The Royal Yacht Britannia and the Queen visit Stony Point and Crib Point in the early 80's
It was a day that everyone in the towns of Crib Point and Stony Point were all looking forward to. Most of the people got dressed up and the schools were let out to line the streets and a glimpse of the Royals as they arrived ashore from the Britannia to visit HMAS Cerberus and Melbourne. Attached is my old super 8 movie catching part of the occasion. As the Queen returned to HMAS Cerberus, my father and I waited at the corner to the base. We were the only two standing there and as the Queen rounded the corner, she looked at us so I waved. She smiled and waved back. I turned to look at my father who had his hands in his pockets. He grinned and said, "she waved to you"! It's a good memory and even though we didn't actually meet, we were only ten feet from her.
