Two Fallen Soldiers Honored at Fort Stewart, GA

The Warriors Walk on Fort Stewart, Georgia, commemorates the 3rd Infantry Divisions fallen soldiers in the War on Terror with a planted tree named in their honor. On Friday (20 April 2012), two more trees were added to the walk.

Family members, friends and the Ft. Stewart community came out to honor SGT Joshua Born and SGT Timothy Conrad, Military Police serving in Afghanistan. Both were killed in during protests resulting in the accidental Quran burning on 23 FEB 2012. SGT Born’s widow Megan heard about her husband’s death on Facebook before the Army was able to notify her.

There are now 441 trees planted in memory of fallen 3rd Infantry Division soldiers on the Warriors Walk. One of the most recognizable soldiers remembered along the Warriors Walk is Sergeant First Class Paul Smith, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic efforts to save his fellow troops under fire in Iraq.
