This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Support escaped slaves in Mauritania

    Freedom is a choice.

My teacher pointed us to this incredibly saddening yet courageous story of hope and freedom. I personally did not know that slavery, to this extent, present within Mauritania, still existed. Awed by the bravery of Moulkheir and the abolitionists, I cannot help but react with passion toward their operation of freeing other Mauritania people who actually do not realize that they can truly be free. Gratefulness overwhelms me, and I unwaveringly believe that these women can experience this gratefulness and realization of freedom as well.
