    Portugal: celebration of 25th April

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     TTeixeira shot these photos of April 25 street protests in Lisbon, Portugal, celebrating the 38th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution that saw the creation of a democratic government in the country. 'It gathered a lot of people, activists, political parties, trade unions, simple citizens unhappy with the economic situation of Portugal, jobless people and different groups of immigrants,' she said. 'As people start organizing in groups and demonstrating to claim for their rights, the government and the police grow in a threatening way, making people believe that they are losing the prerogatives and the freedom they had conquered 38 years ago with the Carnation Revolution.'
    - jmsaba, CNN iReport producer

Today, the Portuguese people celebrated the anniversary of the revolution that took place on the 25th April, 38 years ago. People went down the Avenida da Liberdade singing songs of Zeca Afonso and others. Not even the rain prevented them from gathering in the streets to celebrate and manifestate against the latest government politics and lack of strategy to solve the problems and overcome this economic crisis and the continuous austerity measures.
