Interview with Hugh Grant on Pirates Band of Misfits
Grab your kids and head to the theatre, Pirates Band of Misfits is a fun tale sure to entertain!
This tale of a Pirate, Pirate Captain that is, ( voice of Hugh Grant) is a tale of a pirate who dreams of becoming Pirate of the Year, year after year, a dream he has yet to accomplish. His band of misfits, true and loyal, feel that this must be the year, odds are good, he will win.
They are, however, overlooking that his record for terror on the high seas isn't good, in fact he has yet to capture a ship filled with gold. The WANTED price on his head is very little, and his plundering and pirating is not at all feared or admired by his pirate peers.
With all he's up against, Pirate Captain still decides he will indeed apply to be Pirate of the Year; until Black Bellamy comes bounding in, ( voice of Jeremy Piven) a very showy pirate, followed by sexy Cutlass Liz, (voice of Salma Hayek) a real bad ass pirate gal.
A bit discouraged, Pirate Captain and his Band of Misfits set out to find a ship they can conquer, with goods far greater than the other pirates; and prove once and for all what a truly competent pirate he is, and bring home that blasted award.
Pirate's Band of Misfits will take the viewer on a wild ride through the open seas filled with slapstick mishaps, delivered with wit and charm. It will certainly keep you laughing.
There is a gesture towards, dare I say, a moral voice. What/who would you sacrifice to get what you want or think you want? Pirate Captain finds out what means the most to him on his quest to be Pirate Captain of the Year.
Peter Lords and David Sproxton of Aardman Entertainment( Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit) have it dialed in on this one. The historic nods and characters are done with humor, not intended to be be accurate or factual in any sense.
Pirates Band of Misfits is a Colombia Pictures Sony Entertainment Animations production, and opens Friday April 27th! A must see, and yes, it is 3D.
