    A Garden in Progress

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     lnichols first started planting her own food two years ago, inspired by the desire to know where her food came from. 'I wanted to eat organic and I wanted my food to be local,' she said. She joined a community supported agriculture program four years ago, 'which made me realize after my second year there that I could grow things myself.'
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

My names is Lois Nichols, and my husband and I have eaten totally organic for about five years. Four years ago we joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Two years ago we decided to see if we could many of the same foods on our own, and not waste gas driving 20 minutes to the CSA. We were successful, so this year we have doubled our gardening area, and decided to try and grow as many vegetables (some fruits, too) as we could to sustain us for a full year.
