America here we go again with another Confederate flag situation, in which the last generation is pushing their beliefs on my generation and causing problems. It’s a shame that a girl can’t wear a dress of her choosing, to the greatest event of a teenager’s life. When will my generation be able to form our own opinion about certain issues and symbols? Now you probably don’t believe it, but I was taught that the Confederate Flag was racist and it was a symbol of hate toward blacks. Then I saw white people wearing it, but they never was mean or showed any signs of racism toward me. It confused me, because how can they be racist, if they are helping me out and always friendly toward me? Until I researched the Confederate flag, I was confused about how I should judge someone who carries that symbol. It’s a shame that now in America we are still judging people before we meet them. We are judging people, from someone else’s actions. We are judging everyone with a Confederate flag, as a racist, KKK member, and people who hate blacks. Now, America yall can keep calling me racist toward my own race, an Uncle Tom, disgrace toward black people, or whatever, but I know personality that I’m NOT RACIST!!! My flag hasn’t killed anyone or hated anyone. My flag doesn’t have a rope or cotton gin by it. Don’t put my business with someone else’s business. If someone else is racist with their Confederate flag, then that’s them, but don’t put my flag in that category with their flag. Bottom line: I’m not Racist, so my Flag isn’t Racist. Since I’m not racist I’m not ashamed to show my flag. In America we give too much power to the bad and evil people. Why do we give them the power to control a symbol or issue? Everyone wants to say the Confederate flag is the KKK’s flag, but have you talked to a KKK member and asked them personally? I’ve called them because I wanted to hear it from the horse’s mouth, and they told me the flag of choice is the America flag and they said they can use any symbol they want. So should we take down American flags now? No, because we are all Americans and that flag represents our country. Not everyone wants to hop on other people’s bandwagon. We have a lot of bandwagoners here in America who won’t form their own opinions about things and stand up for their beliefs. Alexander Hamilton said “those who stand for nothing fall for anything.” America doesn’t need to fall for anything. Times have changed and my generation will see things differently than the last generation. My future kids will see things differently than my generation. Every generation should have a right to believe how they want to view something. Overall for our country to become united, we have to stop judging people from other people’s actions. Just because a white person carries a confederate flag doesn’t mean they are racist. Remember what Martin Luther King Jr. said? MLKjr. said that he had a dream that “People would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” That’s for every race and every American, not just Black Americans. United We Stand and May God Bless America
