    Illinois Marathon

    On some Saturday mornings my husband and I like to take a walk through our neighborhood. It's very relaxing, and always very quiet.

     

    Just a couple of blocks from our house, the usual quiet was broken by a cow bell and cheering. This Saturday our neighborhood had runners pounding the pavement in their pursuit of completing the Illinois Marathon. While this marathon does not get national coverage, it is important because it's a race that can qualify runners to run in a marathon that's well known - the Boston Marathon. Quite inspiring.
