Olympics 2016: The first competition is on
The conservation of the golden lion tamarin (GLT) is a symbol of success in international nature conservation.
Some 30 years ago this cuddly, cute and just a squirrel size monkey was nearing extinction with some 150 animals living in the Atlantic rain forest in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Today, thanks to national and international conservation efforts there are some 1600 GLTs living in the wilderness.
GLT has entered the competition to become the mascot of the 2016 Olympic Games hosted by the city of Rio de Janeiro.
