This iReport is part of an assignment:
Eye on the Philippines |
Lake Caliraya: man-made lake of Laguna
It was created after the construction of the Caliraya dam, an embankment dam created by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The dam was severely devastated during the World War II.
The lake was then rediscovered in the early 60's by some Filipino families who then popularize the place to Manila's upper-class and expatriate communities.
The lake has now numerous resort around open to the public.
There's a lot of activities you can do here such as wind surfing, kite/wake boarding, jet skiing, boating, golf and other recreational activities.
No need to worry about the hot weather, the lake is located high in the "Sierra Madre"(mountain range in the Philippines). So cool weather can be expected all year round.
Our family make it a point that we go here every year. Its a nice way to escape all those technology and just be one with the nature.
Maybe if you visit this place, you might have the same expressions we have in some of the photos. ( btw those people are my family, they normally pose like that.)
