The most memorable place for me during our visit to Venice was not Venice itself but a nearby island called Burano Island, which is known for its brightly painted homes and intricate lacework. It is interesting to know that the color of each home follows a certain system, and you will need to request for government approval to change it. The unofficial story given to us though indicates that the color of the houses provides an easier way for the fishermen to identify their homes after a night of heavy drinking out on sea, haha.
