    Stockholm celebrated Mayday Colorfully

     

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     theoyes shot these photos on May 1 of demonstrators in the streets of Stockholm, Sweden, celebrating International Workers Day, also known as May Day. 'Young people were demanding for more job opportunities, better pay and educational opportunities. Leaders of various trade unions and political parties also made speeches at the rally,' he said. 'There were quite good number of anti-capitalism protesters with various placards that said "they're 99% and own the future."'

    Today (May 1/2012) tens of thousands of residents of Stockholm and its environs took to the street to celebrate the International Labor day or Mayday from 11:00-16:00GMT local time in various parts of the city. People from various national, religious, ideological, political, age and gender backgrounds demanded better pay, more job, accountability and transparency from the Swedish government. Various leaders of Swedish Political parties and trade unions made speeches related to Mayday, their programs and the upcoming election in the country. At the rally, Ethiopians, Syrians and other nationalities who fled their respective countries demanded EU member countries and the rest of the world to stop supporting dictatorial regimes which are violating human rights and attacking their own people on daily basis.
