Obama: Time to Renew America, Be United
In a speech to the American people tonight from the Baghram Air Force Base in Afghanistan, President Barack Obama called for a renewal of America and for us all to unite for a better future. The President said that the end was near for the war in Afghanistan, but Americans would finish the job it started.
Tonight, the President said the right words. Tonight, the President hit the right notes. Tonight, the President reached out to unite rather than prolong the divisions within the nation.
Tonight, the President spoke in a way that many of us who have been critical wish he would speak about the economy, jobs, gasoline prices, unemployment and a host of other issues. Tonight the President spoke in a manner and with the words many of us have been waiting for him to do.
Question is once the President is back in country will he continue the higher more presidential road so many of us have hoped he would?
Will tomorrow see a renewal of the strategy of "divide and conquer"?
At least tonight, our President sounded the tone of actually being President of all Americans.
From the Cornfield, tonight I give respect and credit for words well said.
Hope, they say, springs eternal, therefore, perhaps tomorrow the same tone will continue.
