City smackdown: I heart New York |
The CIty vs LaLa Land
New York City is my hometown, I was born & raised here. But, I love Los Angeles, I've been there too!
If you have to compare the two & choose one over the other, I am going to pick NYC. It's not because I have to out of my allegiance, it's because I want to.
The best way to describe why I feel this way is in pictures. I have taken these & many more & love the diversity of New York City.
One of my favorite things to do with friends who visit me, is to start walking from the bottom of Manhattan.
We start at the Statue of Liberty, walk North thru Battery Park, Wall Street, the South Street Seaport, Chinatown, Little Italy, Tribeca, Soho, Greenwich Village & Chelsea.
And that is only day 1!
Every nook & cranny of the city exudes it's own pleasures, flavors & personality. I honestly don't think you can ever see it all. From the Edgar Allen Poe cottage in the Bronx, to the site of the 1962 World's Fair in Queens, there is always something to see that will "WoW" you!
Los Angeles,
I will see you again.. But in my humble opinion, there's not as much pizzazz, charm or culture in you. The beach is huge, I adore your weather & the organic food is extraordinary!
But every time I go to LA, I wonder... "where is your heartbeat?" where is your soul LA?
The vast canyons of Los Angeles make me dizzy when I've landed at LAX. The streets & neighborhoods seem to go on forever & ever in a vast & empty flatland existence.
Most of my friends live in New York & Los Angeles. That is my favorite fact about both cities. I do love them both, friends & cities!
Come, take a walk right now & see just a smidge of my city, New York City.
