Yesteryear's actress- Achala Sachdev expires at 91
April 30, 2012 saw the demise of yesteryear's actress Achala Sachdev.
Having debuted in 'Fashionable Wife', Achala starred in more than 130 movies in her career of over 50 years. Her more recent roles have been in movies such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Na tum Jaano Na Hum.
The actress was born on May 3, 1920. The 91-year old slipped accidentally and had to be admitted to medical care in September 2011. Since then she had been hospitalised. It was after the accident that a clot was diagnosed around her artery, which proliferated over time into several smaller clots that entered her brain vessels. The bed-ridden actress was in poor state ever since and breathed her last on Monday, in a hospital in Pune, dying a lonely death with none of her film fraternity acquaintances at her deathbed.
Films of India prays for the peace of her soul and offers its condolences to her family and loved ones.
