Day of Joy And Sorrow In So Cal Sports History

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     TheVideoMan says Junior Seau is a legend in southern California. 'I am a huge Trojans fan, and it was shocking to hear that he killed himself.' he says. He says the recent death and health concerns in relation to football made him and his wife reconsider having their own son play the sport. 'We reconsidered our sons playing football, and chose basketball for him instead. It is because of the information we are learning about how dangerous the impact of the game is,' he says
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

What a day in in LA and So Cal Sports history.

We started off with a happy note, as the Dodgers sale became official with a news conference at Dodger Stadium. New owner LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson announced that 'It's all about the fans baby'...He immediately lowered the parking from $15 to $10...

Then things here turned tragic, when in the early afternoon, USC and Chargers great Junior Seau was found dead in his hometown of Oceanside, CA.

He was one of the greatest linebackers of all time, for both the Trojans and the NFL. Officials in Oceanside are calling it a 'probable suicide'. God bless his family and friends, this is such a horrible loss - Mr Seau was only 43 years old.

And tonight, here in Anaheim, the Thrill of Victory for the Angels. The teams ace, Jered Weaver, threw the second no-hitter of the young MLB season.

From agony to ecstasy, from defeat to victory. What a day for Southern California sports...
