The first Avenger and a Juten assemble in Chicago

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     purdymaryk attended the midnight showing on May 03, 2012. She says it was absolutely amazing. As a pop culture and comic book fan she says she had high expectations going into the movie, and the movie definitely exceeded those expectations. 'It really came together well, I think there were a lot of people who were worried about the movie focusing on Iron man or Captain America, but they did a great job creating the ensemble,' she says. She says when she was at the midnight showing the theater almost seemed like a comic book convention because so many people were dressed up. She captured a photo of two women cosplaying as Loki and Captain America. 'It was interesting to me because it was a gender swap. Two women posing as two male superheroes,' she says.

Cosplaying fans stand by in anticipation of the 12:01 a.m. screening of The Avengers 3D at Chicago's ShowPlace Icon Theater at Roosevelt Collection.
