CNN PRODUCER NOTE jeffreyroot does quite a bit of astrophotography, and he describes the "super moon" on May 05, 2012 as beautiful, but not that out of the ordinary. 'The best time to look at the moon is when it is on the horizon because there is an optical illusion that the moon is bigger. It's kind of like looking through a warped piece of glass, stretching out the image,' he says. He says that he felt as though some people were disappointed by the "super moon" because he thinks people were expecting something different. 'The problem is most people don't look at the moon at all anymore so they wouldn't know what to expect anyway. The city lights have drowned out the night sky. It's as if it doesn't exist anymore,' he says.
