Same-sex marriage: Civil right vs. states' rights |
Same-sex marriage a Pandora's Box?
I have nothing against Civil Unions, in many cities same sex couples are given benefits, the same as heterosexual couples do and so they should.
Whether we like it or not religion does play a role in our country today, you are entitled to Freedom of Religion, what happens when that freedom collides with something that is unacceptable to your religious beliefs? Should you be forced to participate in something that is against your faith? Wouldn't that be going against their right to Freedom of Religion or as many have tried to portray the Gay Rights Movement as a civil right? I personally do not think that in any way, shape, or form does this compare to the Civil Rights that so many African Americans fought so hard for. In fact I believe that to the many people who are involved in the Civil Rights Movement this is an insult by those who try to compare the two and that is understandable.
A Pandora's Box; yes it definitely is.
