    First lettuce harvest of the season

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MavisGarden of Gig Harbor, Washington, says home gardening is not only a rewarding hobby but also a great way to save money. "I decided back in 2008 that I wanted to reduce my family's grocery budget so we could afford to take a trip to Europe. Spending less on groceries and growing as much food as we possibly can in the backyard every summer just seems like a great way to save those pennies."
