    (In)Visible poverty


    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     giannantonio shot these portraits of poverty in three different Italian cities throughout 2011: Reggio Emilia, Milan and Venice. 'We really could not solve the problem of poverty in our society, but we can do one thing: to speak and listen to the poors. Hear their story of life, gather their evidence,' he said. 'In short, consider them persons and not objects to be rejected. With these photos I wanted to show this idea.'

    Photographs of people. Marginalized, poor, gypsies, tramps. People at the margins. I ask them to tell me a bit 'of their lives. Unfortunate or part of an organized nucleus of professional searchers. I do not photograph a hundred feet away with a powerful telephoto, I approach them with my 35mm lens and ask them to speak of their history; only after, if they want, I will snap a photo and, later, give it back printed as thank you.
