- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
The word 'bangkero' refers to a person who maneuvers a boat and provides a means of transportation on a river. 'Banka', a Filipino word, means boat.
This festival is usually held every March. Locals and tourists look forward to their fluvial parade and exhibitions, street dancing, drum and lyre band competition, choralefest, cultural night and trade fairs.
The festival celebrates Pagsanjan's impressive and cleverly skillful boatmen who exhibit adroit moves in controlling their boats against the strong and intense rapids.
