Same-Sex ADOPTION without Marriage?
Romney issued a statement that he is not against same-sex adoption, but his stance on same-sex marriages has not changed. There is a major issue with allowing one without the other. In order to protect a child legally in an adoption, the couple must be legally bound as a couple in some capacity. Without same-sex marriage, a child that is adopted by a gay person is left without the ability to to have health insurance, be a survivor of benefits if there is a death of a parent, and provide authorization in a medical emergency.
I do think that this is movement on the issue, but it will not work. The children of same-sex parents deserve to have 2 legally tied parents.
