It is American Craft Beer Week

May 14 - 20, 2012 is the 7th Annual American Craft Beer Week. Beer weeks started in 2006 as a beer month with the Brewers Association American Beer Month. While they were able to get 124 breweries to participate, when they changed it to a week, the number of participants increased steadily. In 2011 there were 1,521 "official" beer week events in 50 states.

For one reason or another I have not been able to truly participate in this tasty event; although I do my best to support American craft brewers every chance I get. This year I happen to be home and have a fairly clear schedule, so I am planning on visiting a different craft brewery every day. Monday, my girlfriend and I headed out to Naja's Place on the International Boardwalk by the Redondo Beach pier. They have 88 beers on tap and most of them are actually American craft beers. The photos above were taken during yesterday's visit.

The beers shown are the Knee Deep Tanilla Porter, Hangar 24 Double IPA, Ballast Point Tongue Buckler, Black Phoenix and Firestone Velvet Merlin.

You can see all the photos from our visit to Naja's Place and the Redondo Beach pier at http://www.gotbaddog.com/najas-place-redondo-beach/ You will be able to follow the rest of my adventure from there.

    Bottoms up.
