This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Living without Facebook?

    Not On Facebook

I'm in my mid-20s. I'm not on Facebook, and I never will be. Compiling my personal information and putting it all on the web voluntarily is the last thing I want to do. The communication is pointless because everyone I want to talk to, I do.

I see many people using Facebook as a means to disseminate information about themselves with hundreds, or even thousands of other people. I have no desire to share what I am doing with that many people -- I see it as being very narcissistic, which it is definitively.

It also takes away from personal communication and results in a level of alienation from people when you spend all your time relating to them from behind a screen.

Don't take me as a Luddite -- I am as far from that as possible. I work in the technology industry, automating things. I just think some things are better with the personal touch, and that requires the sound of a voice or the presence of being with them -- not a written loudspeaker...
