Smoke and Fire
The "Ring of Fire" eclipse as seen from Arizona with smoke from the Gladiator Fire burning near Crown King.
Unfortunately, at this elevation the full "ring" was not observed. The fire's smoke more than made up for what was lacking in latitude, however.
The Gladiator Fire has been burning for about a week now, charring 14,000 acres and forcing the evacuation of Crown King, Battle Flat, Pine Flats, and Turkey Creek. The fire stands at 15 percent containment with nearly 1,000 firecrews working to stop the blaze.
