    Charlotte's New Intermodal Facility, A Hub for Economic Growth

    The Charlotte Regional Intermodal Facility at Charlotte Douglas International Airport brings together rail, truck, air, and shipping transportation at one 200 acre hub to facilitate the distribution of goods. The facility will expand the region's ability to handle and move an increased volume of freight with estimates of it generating $9 billion and 5,000 jobs over the next 20 years. The groundbreaking for the facility occurred May 2, 2012.
