    National Gas Prices - A Snapshot - May 21

     

    It's  Monday, which means it's time to take at trip across the US of A and  check out what the pain at the pump is. With the critical Memorial Day  weekend a few days away and the start of the summer driving season,  motorists are left wondering if the historical summer upswing in cost  will occur after the spiral of up to 20 cents earlier this year putting  the price per gallon at near or at $4.

    In  our weekly National Snapshot, we look at a select city in all 50 states  as well as the District of Columbia. What I found this week was that on  average, prices remained stable or dropped a few cents to up to 10  cents. A few places saw increases up to 15 cents.

    Here  in the Cornfield, gas costs ranged from $3.57 in the state capitol of  Indianapolis to $3.64 in Terre Haute and $3.69 in Sullivan.

    Once more we turn to the good folks at GasBuddy.com to get an idea what happened with gas costs over the past week.

    From  the Cornfield, we will continue to monitor gas prices each week up  until the November presidential election as whatever the pain at the  pump could impact whether Americans turn out for President Barack Obama  or presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
