One year since Trayvon Martin's death |
Public Opinion is Shifting in Zimmrman's Favor
The polls say it all. As more and more of the facts and evidence surrouding the death of Trayvon Martin are made public an increasing number of Americans feel Zimmerman acted in self defense.
I would like to believe that people would learn a lesson from this this case regarding the use of emotionally charged rhetoric to enflame public opinion, but I am afraid that truth means less than it used to in our country. Many people were more than happy to convict Zimmerman before many of the facts were even known, and some of those people still refuse to acknowledge that it is possible that Zimmerman acted in self defense.
It is scary to think that people are so emotionally motivated by race that they can not even picture a scenario where Zimmerman was the victim.
