Ida's effects |
Underestimating Hanna
Today didn't seem so ominous to me. "Just some heavy rain, and a little wind", I assumed. I figured I'd go to the mall, and there probably wouldn't be many people there with the storm and all. Well, I was wrong on both counts.
When I parked my car in the mall lot, I noticed the water swirling around a storm drain, that it was a few inches high. Imagine my surprise when I was ready to go home and found my car immersed in a foot of water! I realized then that Hanna was no small storm.
A bit distressed, I called many friends seeking advice on what to do. Thankfully, I didn't have to do anything, as after about 30 minutes, the water receded enough that I could start my car and get out of there. It's hours later now, and I'm home nice and dry. I'm thankful it wasn't worse.
