CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Self-described military brat shuttershtl stayed glued to his Guttenberg, NJ, window yesterday for three to four hours as a parade of tall ships glided up the Hudson River to commemorate the start of Fleet Week. 'I always feel excitement and a sense of pride when these types of events take place. My dad was the in ARMY for 27 years and I retired from the Federal Government 2 years ago, so I guess it's in the blood,' he said. He created this HDR composite in Photoshop.

Several ships, including various Tall Ships sailed up the Hudson today, parading along the river for approximately 4 hours. This picture was taken from New Jersey at around 10:40am. It shows the Coast Guard welcoming the ships to New York. Modern naval war vessels from around the world followed the Tall Ships in a beautiful and powerful display as they moved slowly and quietly past our apartment complex, with their crew positioned throughout the vessels in a salute to New York. The Blue Angels also participated, leaving thick trails of smoke as they flew over the ships on this cloudy and rainy morning.
