Phillip Phillips Is Your American Idol 2012

The night began here on a very depressing note. As I traveled to Los Angeles to cover the finale of tonight's show live, I noticed that my car's A/C was not working.

Then, as I pulled up to the venue (LA Live), I noticed that my temp gauge was pegged all the way to the 'H' mark. Time to call AAA, I had to get towed all the way back home to Reche Canyon :( ....Looks like a bad water pump on my Mazda 3GT...Grrrrr!!!!!

And the winner is...Our buddy, the bluesy Georgia guitar man, Phillip Phillips. The two hour show had lots of surprises and special guests, we loved Reba, Aereosmith, Neil Diamond, Rhianna, and Jordan Sparks.

With PP's unusual look and style, some in the biz here are even calling him the next Bruce Springsteen - or even Elvis Presley. Lets put it this way: He is an original, we predict an easy Number One for his first album. Can't wait to see him In Concert on the Idols Summer Tour too.

He was the fifth male "Idol" winner in a row - the early female favorite, runner up Jessica Sanchez, could not pull it off for the girls. But not to worry - she will have an incredible career, she is only 16 years old.

And in the shocker for the night...there was a marriage proposal for the season 11 finale: Former contestants Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo from 2005 got engaged on stage. She said 'Yes' of course...

So now the summer replacement shows begin in earnest...See you tomorrow night on ABC for the new singing competition "Duets"...
