    Awake Finale

Is this the real world, is this just fantasy, caught in a landslide no escape from reality.

First, the premise of the story. Detective Michael Britten was in a car accident with his wife Hanna and son Rex. Each day when he awakes, he is either with his wife or his son, always having to deal with the death of one or the other. It has always looked as if he was dreaming. When he awoke he was wearing a rubber bracelet, green meant he would be with his son Rex, red meant he would be with his wife Hanna.

In the finale, Michael is stuck in one dream, with Hanna. He finds out who is responsible for the accident, which was no accident. His Captain, Captain Harper and several other law enforcement personal had been stealing and hiding drugs from the evidence department seemingly for quite awhile. It's not clear to me though why they wanted Britten killed because in the beginning, he didn't know anything about this. Anyway, those responsible were either killed or arrested ending this part of the story.

Now to what we all wanted to know, why was Michael living two lives? How was he living two lives?

Visiting his shrink Dr. Evans, she thought Michael was making great progress until he asked her if it was possible he was having a dream within a dream. Suddenly, Dr. Evans froze up, no, I mean she literally froze up! Michael looked at her with a strange look on his face. All the sudden the door to her office opened up, on the other side was Michael's bedroom and Michael saw that he was lying in it! Michael then went and lay down on top of himself, fell asleep, woke up and noticed he didn't have a bracelet on. He walked downstairs into a bright kitchen, looked around, then Rex walked in and asked if he would take him to school. Again a perplexed look on his face. Then Hanna comes into the kitchen, looks at Michael and say's "oh good, you're awake". Hanna notices the look on his face and asks him if he's ok, Michael smiles a wide smile and say's "yes, everything perfect".

Well, I'm guessing Michael entered his third dream. Sadly we will never know what really went on here. This fantastic show was canceled by NBC.
