6 Year Old Grandson of Veteran Carries on Tradition

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     rebeccam13 shot these photos of her six-year-old nephew, Jameson, helping soldiers on Thursday to place flags at graves in Arlington National Cemetery, where his grandfather is buried. The boy was two years old when he first began helping his 'Pop Pop' lay flags on veterans' graves in Aiken, South Carolina (as shown in photo #10, taken a couple years before his grandfather died).
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

Jameson Lang, the Grandson of Lt. Colonel James David Miller (R-USA), a Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient used to place flags at the graves of veterans in Aiken, South Carolina each Memorial Day. Proud of his service, Dave wanted to ensure that all veterans were remembered for their service to our country.

Dave Miller died unexpectedly 2010, but his legacy and commitment lives on in the lives of his grandsons.

This Memorial Day weekend, Jameson, his oldest grandson aged 6 came to Washington, DC from South Carolina to visit his "Pop Pop" at Arlington National Cemetery. When he saw the soldiers from the Third Regiment placing flags at the graves, he asked if he could help. The soldiers were kind enough to oblige.

After assisting with the placement at a few graves, Jameson waved goodbye and thanked them for their service.

His Pop Pop would undoubtedly be proud.
