    Have you had reconstructive surgery?

    doing well!thanks vanderbilt!

I am doing great after reconstructive surgery. I have survived a complicated Breast Cancer surgery and reconstructive surgery.

I have decided to write to you regarding my spouse's ill treatment by VA Nashville after watching Anderson Cooper 360 where he, Mr. Griffin was discussing that how some are using and abusing funds of 55 million dollars. That fund was for disabled veterans as I understand. So, am writing my story over here.

I am upset. I am being intimidated by people at VA Nashville when ask for help for my spouse who is a blind and disabled veteran. Last Thursday May 24, 2012 police was called on me and my request for urgent help for my disabled spouse Leonhard Altmayer to go bathroom was not taken care of. He cannot see and needs be directed, can't figure out on his own. He also has a pin in one of his fingers because one of Doctors could not find, blamed on him that “you Leonhard Altmayer, have wasted my whole day”. Oh! yeah! What this Doctor is getting paid for at VA? Sit down and gossip? No! If he cannot find or treat a patient, then should discuss with a colleague to work as team to find out where is pin and take it out. On the other hand Leonhard Altmayer has been released five times without pin being taken out from his body. Is it dangerous? Is it not a shame? Of course!

Surgery and clinic appointments for my spouse Leonhard Altmayer have been going forever. We already drove more than fifteen hundred miles with five trips. I am exhausted. Nothing gets done at VA Nashville. I am worried that Leonhard has pin still sitting in his body. When he goes there he remains being neglected for hours with no escort or attendant. They send one but he/she disappears. If I go at Windows and ask for help, then am either being yelled at or ignored. This time I said I will get it all, so police was called to get me arrested. Several other patients and family members got fed up too, left. They commented, that they are going to call congressmen from TN. I do not like talking over phone rather send an email or submit a report. That is what am trying to do.

We have been there at VA Nashville five times. We are getting frustrated and live with fear, anxiety. Is this VA hospital and clinic of Nashville to take care of vets or what? No! Its workers like to intimidate when ask/request fro help. I feel like voting for Republicans this time. I can't be intimidated to be arrested for asking help because I cannot go to Men's rest room with my husband. Then they bring wheel chairs which was either fifteen inch or 30 inch wide. Leonhard is big and tall. He can't fit in fifteen inch wheel chair. Looks like their brain while working is totally shut? Eventually, Leonhard could not go to bathroom I time and peed all over his body. However police was busy looking for options to arrest me to satisfy the so called VA worker because I interrupted her so called conversation with her co-worker and ask for urgent help? Really? for what ? This is my question? I am fed up now. I need help. This is harassment and intimidation to a totally disabled vet and to his spouse who is just recovering from advanced Breast cancer surgery (five surgeries plus chemo). I needed to help for my spouse to go to bathroom and he being seen to take pin off. Nothing was taken care of. We finally came back home again. I want to tell everybody that VA must be fixed and Veterans must be taken care of. I am so sad and upset.

I do not know what to do, so am writing on Ireport. I do not have camera phone, so can't send any picture. May be I should put a picture of our dog who has survived big tumor treatment. Thanks to Animal Hospital of Milan, TN and few other Veterinarians at Charlotte Pike Nashville PetSmart Banfield Pet clinic. God Bless!
