This iReport is part of an assignment:
Home and Away: Remembering the fallen |
Remembering SGT Shields, Gold Stars and Our Fallen Memorial Day 2012
In this short video message from my living room I share a message to Remember our fallen and their families left behind.
In the photo in the video is a painting of my husband, a gift from artist Rhea Brown.
This painting hangs on my fireplace behind the word PEACE all year long. I feel Jon's sacrifice went towards America's efforts to make sure we remain safe, at Peace, away from all harm.
My husband was killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Many lives have been lost to war , many sacrifices for us, as Americans, to have the freedom to live our day to day lives without harm coming to us and it is so important that we REMEMBER that each and every day.
We miss him daily and I am so grateful to his battle buddies and a small group of supporters here in our military community of Ft Hood, Texas who help me keep Jonathan's memory alive year after year.
Missing my soldier,
