    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Honeysworld2 says marriage seemed like the next natural progression in their already committed relationship. Even though they live in North Carolina, where gay marriage is not legal, they held a wedding ceremont to make a statement to the community. A few days later, they legally married in Washington, DC.

    My wife, Barbara, and I planned and held a wedding ceremony in September 2010 in our home town of Asheboro, NC. My eldest son walked me down the aisle. My daughter and my sister stood up for me, Barb's best friend stood up for her. Barb's sister served as our officiant. We then traveled to Washington, DC for our honeymoon, where we were legally married in an simple "I Do" Ceremony on the Courthouse Grounds.
