I joined a gym last August and began working out three times a week and LOVED the results I was getting. Unfortunately in November my father was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma so I moved home to be with him. Quit going to the gym and decided to eat anything I wanted while helping him through this. In April I decided I liked working out, missed doing it, and wanted to get into it again so I joined a gym. Around that same time a friend introduced me to a new website called Fitocracy. I am now completely hooked on it! Not only is it very easy to use, but all the people on it are so helpful and supportive. The basis of the website (which has an app for iphone) is to talk to others in similar situations while also gaining levels (like you would in a video game),completing quests, getting achievements, and they even have challenges against other members (i.e. Fitocrats). It is so simple to add my workouts, either while I do them at the gym using the app, or once I get home using the website. Most of the exercises have descriptions and there are also forums where you can ask specific questions. You gain levels by getting points which are based on the different exercises you do. The points are calculated by your weight, height, age, and difficulty to accomplish. Giving me the support from other Fitocrats as well as the gaming fun of quests and levels keeps me intertained and engaged with my exercise and weight loss. This has definitely helped me stick to my goals this time around and already I have lost 20 lbs and have started the Couch to 5K program! I don't know what I would do without Fitocracy and all it's awesome members.
