    Cows on Main Street! A Rainy Strolling of the Heifers 2012 in Brattleboro, VT

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     calebjc documents a procession of farm animals, students and tractors participating in the Strolling of the Heifers, an annual parade benefiting farmers and educating the public about sustainable, local agriculture. His wife and five-week-old son are seen participating in the event.

    Our yearly parade of cows happened despite the hard chilly rain, go Brattleboro! This year I was in the parade with my wife Laura and our 5 week old son as part of The Neighborhood Schoolhouse float.

    On the site, the founder of the parade addressed the rain:

     

    "Stroll Founder and Executive Director Orly Munzing says: "The heifers are waterproof. And we ask people to remember that at its core, Strolling of the Heifers is about honoring and celebrating our farmers, who are working to grow our food in the rain and all kinds of weather — so now it's our turn to be there for them, rain or shine. Just bring your umbrella and rain gear!"
