    Veggie Pride Parade

    For vegetarian and vegan fans of green vegetables and fruit, today is Chicago's inaugural Veggie Pride Parade from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2nd at Grant Park.  Be there "Celebrating the Vegan/Vegetarian Lifestyle" while socializing, learning and celebrating the Veg lifestyle.  The first Veggie Pride Parade started in Paris in 2001 and has extented to include parades in New York, L.A., Santa Monica, California and Toronto in Canada, all run run by local volunteers from ChicagoVeg, along with other local activists.  Be sure to enter the free costume contest at noon, with prizes awarded by a panel of judges. Support local vegans, vegetarians, and guest speakers to raise awareness about the benefits of a plant-based diet.
