KEY FRAMES Light Art Installation in Singapore

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JherryPhons says he was visiting the Marina Bay grandstand in Singapore, when he saw the light installation. 'I was attracted to the way it looked and curious about it, that is why I took a shot of this cool and unique display,' he says. Upon further research, he learned the light installation was a part of the Marina Bay sustainable light art festival, which ran through the months of March to April 2012. 'I think this is a public art not only because it was installed in a public place, but this was made possible for the people to enjoy and to be surprised for free,' he says. He says the best part of this art installation was that the art brought its message to the public. 'This event was conceptualized to tell the people the importance of energy saving lighting technology especially in the urban areas and encouraged us to use of energy efficient lighting in our daily living. That is the beauty of art, it is made through many forms and shapes but the ideas it conveys is thought provoking and it tells many stories, too,' he says.

Key frames light art is a fixed-pose stick figures equipped with light strips which flicker on and off to give the illusion of motion. It comes to life in a choreographed display of light and sound creating a sense of movement and stunning spectacle.

These images were shot at the Marina Bay Grandstand in Singapore on March 25, 2012 on a 14-hour stop over. I didn't sleep the whole night but I enjoyed my stay roaming around the city.
