    Art where you live

A reflection of rising culture wars - Street art in India.

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     meeravijayan say cultural murals that depict Indian history are common through most cities in India, and these murals are commissioned by the state government to discourage sticking bills and political posters up. But she adds that urban graffiti-style murals such as the image in this iReport are a new phenomenon in Indian cities. 'I believe this a commissioned artwork done by a company to promote the Cricket world cup which took place in India in April 2011,' meeravijayan says.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

I walked past this beautiful urban graffiti the day I took part in the Anti-corruption protests at Freedom Park in Bangalore. It immediately caught my eye and left me wondering - what happened to the Indian murals that were usually commissioned by the BDA (Bangalore Development Authority).
