Mining for Wine? Only in Switzerland!

A salt mine full of wine?

35,000 tons of salt are mined here annually. 40 full time miners work in this mine year round. And the mine is also filled with...wine.

That Switzerland has been mining its own salt for hundreds of years may be surprising enough. But mining for wine? You may find that downright strange.

    Unless you watch this video.

Not only do the Swiss produce a lot of wine (they just keep it all to themselves), but a lot of it ends up in this mine.
It turns out, the Bex Wine Society may actually have figured out wine-making just as nature intended it!

Special thanks to the Bex Wine Society and Bex Salt Mine.
