Wisconsin Win Cause for Obama Recalibration

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     wjoreilly believes Gov. Scott Walker winning the Wisconsin recall election signifies a change in momentum for the presidential election -- a change in momentum that benefits Romney. Before anyone calls him a 'chest-beating Republican,' wjoreilly wants people to know that he's an Independent who voted for Obama in 2008. 'I intend to vote Obama again, but these developments are a warning sign and wake up call to the DNC ... serious rethinking required,' he said.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

The Wisconsin recall election win for Gov. Scott Walker is not some random blip on the political screen. It is a deeply significant change in momentum, the something that changes the outcome of baseball seasons and presidential elections. By the way, you should know I'm not some chest-beating Republican desperate to read hope into what before now has been a losing Romney Campaign. I'm an independent who voted Obama last time and will again in the Fall.

Now, about momentum. If you are reasonably self- aware, you can tell when flows are changing or have changed. This is one of those moments, and Barrack Obama and his party need to wake up to this smack in the face truth, or Mitt Romney will be our next president and Obama will have been nothing more than a Jimmy Carter--that is, a set up for a Ronald Regan to come in and work his magic, and I hope your intuition reads my sarcasm Baseball seasons and political campaigns are very similar. There's a reason why teams who start the season in first or last place don't wind up there in October. You see, a team can get off to a slow start, then, hypothetically, their star second baseman can jam a finger and be out for two weeks. They hire some washed up utility infielder who comes in and for no logical reason, bats .500 and is key to winning a string of six or seven games. Momentum change. team climbs out of the cellar, builds on this momentum and bam! they are in the post season.

Message to Barrack Obama and the DNC--Scott Walker just hit a walk off homer in the bottom of the ninth and the fans are going wild. I can't tell you what to do now, you're raising all those millions to pay the handlers that come up with strategy to counter just such unlikely developments. You gotta get it. It's the equivalent of a 43 year old guy lifting an entire team on his back and carrying them out of the basement and into.....well..... the white house.

I'm not expecting the Democratic National Committee to agree with me. That would be heresy. But they'd certainly have to admit in private that it's something to think about. I'm W J O'Reilly.
