Fitocracy transformed me into a stronger and healthier person

Two years ago, I got a reality check about my health when I was diagnosed as a type II diabetic. My physician bluntly told me that I'd only be allowed to be off my medications if I lost weight. Determined, I began a fitness routine of cardio with some weight lifting tossed in. After a couple of months, I had lost weight but started to plateau.

I had heard about Fitocracy from my brother (who is also my trainer) and decided to sign up. I started to follow people with similar goals. I got encouraged by the "props" and comments by users. After playing around with the website, I knew that I wanted to be stronger and began to follow women who lifted more weight than me. Within a couple of months, I benched, squatted, and deadlifted more weight. I even started getting messages from other users telling me that I was their inspiration for their workouts!

After being a member of Fitocracy for a year, I finally began to lose more inches off my body while increasing my strength. More importantly, I got the clean bill of health from the same doctor who diagnosed me with diabetes. I’m off my medications and was praised as a model patient. I know that Fitocracy played a huge part in my journey to good health because without it, I wouldn’t have been motivated to push myself to work out and become a better, stronger and healthier person (and patient!).
