Maxine Waters Continues to Question Misconduct by Ethics Committee

by John Parkinson, Jun 7, 2012 6:06pm, ABC News

Within 24 hours of the House Ethics Committee’s dismissal of her assertions that her constitutional rights were violated, Rep. Maxine Waters began to fight back.

Waters is accused of steering $12 million in TARP funds to a minority-owned bank with ties to her husband in 2008. The ethics committee’s trial was to begin in November 2010 but was delayed after the California Democrat claimed her rights — racial insensitivity, leaked documents, too much time until trial — had been violated.

Today Waters demanded that the committee release a report issued by Billy Martin, the special counsel hired to investigate allegations of staff misconduct at the committee.

“The Committee must immediately release Mr. Martin’s report, which forms the basis of their determination to dismiss Representative Waters’ due process concerns,” Waters, D-Calif., writes in a letter signed by 68 of her Democratic colleagues in the House of Representatives. “Without the public, the Congress and Representative Waters being able to review the findings included in this report, the integrity of the Committee’s process will further be called into question.”

The committee ultimately hired Martin, an attorney with Dorsey & Whitney, as an outside counsel to investigate Waters’ allegations regarding the deprivation of her due process rights. His past clients include the parents of Chandra Levy, Monica Lewinsky’s mother, former Sen. Larry Craig and NFL quarterback Michael Vick.

Waters also notes that releasing the report is necessary to restore public confidence in the ethics committee and to afford Waters the opportunity to respond. She complains that despite the committee’s concession that a former staff member invoked the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and that staff made “inappropriate and/or racially insensitive remarks” about the congresswoman, the committee still dismissed her allegations that her constitutional rights had been violated.

“Considering that it was the conduct of the Committee that necessitated Mr. Martin’s investigation in the first place, which came at the cost of up to $800,000 to the U.S. taxpayer, we feel that it is absolutely essential that the Committee move forward with absolute transparency and release Mr. Martin’s report,” she writes.

A senior aide to Waters revealed that the California Democrat personally collected each signature over the past 24 hours. So far the ethics committee has not commented on her letter.

Wednesday the panel released its letter to Waters, paving the way for the full ethics investigation to continue. Waters, a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, still stands accused of improperly using her influence in 2008 to help secure the TARP funds for the struggling bank. She has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing.

In the event any long standing Federal, State, and County property taxpaying law abiding U.S. born descendant of slavery petition President Barack Obama, Congresswomen Maxine Waters, Karen Bass, 2nd District Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas, 10th District Los Angeles City Councilman Herb Wesson, 8th District Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard Parks, etc., etc., to uphold his or her oath of office to respect and uphold the U.S. Constitution in behalf of a law abiding U.S. born descendant of slavery wrongfully violated by government, President Barack Obama, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and/or other Congressional Black Caucus members play games of deceit, use false pretences to hold office, ignore valid petitions for redress, refuse to respect and uphold the Constitution, the response is unethical or meaningless, the elected official (Councilman Herb Wesson) will use his or her authority to have you arrested and jailed, have no bearing on the serious issues presented (in contrast Senator Diane Feinstein actually corresponds in a manner that is appropriate to the serious issues presented), etc., etc.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Lofton

It is refreshing to read and to see that black people are finally waking up to "kick to the curb and beyond" the nonsense that Eric Holder, Barack Obama, multiple members of the Congressional Black Clueless, and numerous no good poverty pimping jackleg black preachers are doing to use black church members and/or other black voters for votes, only to promote the election or re-election of President Barack Obama and/or other disgraceful individuals, who don't intend to use his or her mandated oath of office to serve any law abiding U.S. born descendant of slavery.

Congresswoman Maxine "Kerosene" Waters and other elected black leaders affiliated with the Democratic Party can do no wrong.....but you know as well as I know, and it is true that a dysfunctional Black electorate will bend over backwards to vote the worst in an individual or set of individuals into office or reelect the same into office….which makes no sense.  Far too often these individuals play the "race card", blame the demise of the black community on the Republican Party, former President George Bush…..activity that enables perpetrators from within the black community to escape being held accountable for his or her criminal, unethical, treasonous, and/or un-American demeanor.

"Does she have the right to take taxpayer dollars and give them to a bank her husband owns? Because that is what she did. She doesn't deny that. She just denies its morally wrong.  Her defense is that she did nothing wrong. She has no morals and needs to ride her broom out of Congress. "by NuYwk

Indeed NuYwk, Congresswoman Waters should and must be held accountable here.  Elected black leaders and no good black preachers have been stealing from the black community for years and getting away with this, more so than not anything worthwhile is killed off, and anything that is unethical or sleazy is promoted by far too many black people in positions of leadership all while the black community remains silent.  It is good to know that other ethnic groups do not condone unlawful, unethical, and disgraceful acts from elected officials, or other individuals in policy making positions.

……more likely Maxine Waters and/or other members of the Congressional Black Caucus are a huge part of promoting the mortgage fraud crisis.

…Furthermore and closer to the truth Congresswoman Maxine Waters, has been looking out for family members or her  own selfish interests and not for the constituents in her Congressional District.  The same or even worse can be said for President Barack Obama, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, multiple members of the Congressional Black Clueless…. AKA the Congressional Black Caucus, and/or other no good elected black leaders at the State, County, and local branches of government.
