Combo Special: History Made Tonight As Mariners No - Hit The Dodgers
Baseball history was made against our Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. For only the 10th time in MLB history, a team threw a no-hitter with multiple pitchers!
The Dodgers were the victims, losing the pitchers duel 1 to 0. Six different Seattle Mariners pitchers combined for the No-No, after starter Kevin Millwood left in the 7th with a strained right groin.
The multiple pitcher no-hitter is even more rare than the one pitcher game, so this was a beauty to see - even though it was against our team!
The last combined no-hitter was June 11, 2003 when six Astros combined for a no-hitter against the Yankees. The six pitchers used tonight tied the major league record set in that 2003 game.
So congrats to the Seattle club, what a game! There were two close defensive gems, especially the play at first in the 9th. But they did it! The beauty of the game...
